Singapore’s Big Tiny partners with IOI Properties to introduce short-stay in tiny houses at 16 Sierra, Puchong
PUCHONG (Oct 2): Singapore-based Big Tiny Pte Ltd, an eco-tourism and hospitality firm that integrates modular tiny-house living with sustainable tourism, has expanded its footprint into Malaysia with two eco-conscious tiny houses set up at the Amigo Clubhouse in 16 Sierra township located at Puchong South.
To that effect, Big Tiny has partnered with the township's developer, IOI Properties Group Bhd (KL:IOIPG), which – via Amigo Clubhouse — will manage the tiny houses, such as guest check-in and housekeeping.
“We see growing interest from eco-conscious millennials and families seeking unique, short-haul experiences, driven by rising awareness of sustainability and experiential travel,” said Big Tiny co-founder and CEO Adrian Chia at a media event on Thursday.
The two homes each measure 6m in length, 2.5m in width and 2.8m in height, weigh approximately three tonnes, and have a built-up area of about 137 sq ft. They are built on a trailer base (on wheels) for ease for relocation.

The homes are available for short-term stays rental, with rates ranging from RM450 to RM650 per night, inclusive of cleaning fees and taxes. Further discounts are applicable for a week's stay.
In addition to a queen-sized bed, guests will have access to water, split air conditioning, a microwave, a toaster, and bathroom facilities. These include a flushing toilet, hand basin and electric-heated shower. Guests will also have access to Amigo Clubhouse's facilities.

The homes also incorporate green features such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting and composting toilets, where feasible, to minimise resource use. Meanwhile, they are also constructed with sustainable materials such as recycled plastics, reconstituted wood and more durable light-gauge steel.
"It takes about two hours to assemble a tiny house and up to a week including the facilities. Big Tiny is also operating a production plant in Kulai, Johor, focusing on the production of wall panels that are shipped to other sites globally," said Big Tiny co-founder and chief operating officer Dave Ng at the same event.
Meanwhile, IOI Properties's 16 Sierra general manager Calvin Sew said the tiny homes would complement the existing The Tribe Glamping site at Amigo Clubhouse and provide a nice getaway with added facilities. He said: “Plus, with Big Tiny's eco-conscious approach and ESG compliance, this collaboration will bode well with our IOI Sustain Roadmap 2030 to drive sustainable progress across all facets of the group’s operations."
Established in 2017, Big Tiny kick-started its first tiny home in Australia and has since expanded into six international offices, with more than 650 tiny homes across 19 countries, including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, Singapore and Europe.
The company operated an end-to-end model that designed, manufactured, deployed and managed tiny houses on underutilised land, transforming overlooked plots into curated, low-impact destinations.
Big Tiny also offers a sale and management programme, a product that aims to generate fixed returns for owners or co-owners of its tiny houses.
