Mall outings bring joy to underprivileged children

RAMADAN is a time for spiritual reflection, charity and kindness.

Reflecting the spirit of the festive season, IOI Mall Kulai and IOI City Mall organised corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to share blessings with underprivileged children.

IOI Properties Group Bhd retail head Chris Chong said, "We remain mindful that our operations have a significant impact on communities.

"Therefore, we embrace the responsibility to make our impact a positive one.

"Most importantly, the holy month inspires us to give back and bring smiles, especially to children in need."

At IOI City Mall in Putrajaya, 30 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan At-Taqwa Puchong and 30 from Rumah Anak Yatim Sungai Kantan Kajang were treated to a delightful day of fun activities.

They received duit raya at Icescape Ice Rink, an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink which is the largest in the country according to the Malaysia Book of Records.

Then the children were treated to an ice-skating session led by instructors.

Later, the children occupied an entire hall at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) for an exclusive screening of Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

This was followed by iftar (breaking of fast) at Cafe Chef Wan where they enjoyed a sumptuous spread of traditional dishes.

The children were also entertained with enjoyable clown magic and balloon sculpting performances before returning to their homes.

Both homes were given groceries and other essentials worth about RM600.

In IOI Mall Kulai, 42 children from Madrasah Tahfiz Ashabus Suffah Jalan Jati also enjoyed an exciting day out, which began with a special screening of the aforementioned movie, followed by a Zapin performance.

The children were treated to a delightful iftar at The Chicken Rice Shop and received duit raya and other goodies.

Chong said, "We hope that these children have enjoyed the excursions.

"It is also our hope that our CSR activities will further encourage the children to do well in life and aspire to be good Malaysians to bring forth kindness to society.

"Our endeavours would not have been possible without our generous sponsors.

"IOI Malls remains committed to reaching out and spreading kindness to the community at all three malls, namely IOI Mall Puchong, IOI Mall Kulai and IOI City Mall."
