IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG) launched KITACycle, a recyclable waste centre at IOI Mall Puchong today.
Gracing the opening ceremony were YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Exco - Local Government & Public Transport and State Assemblyman for Kinrara in Puchong; Dato’ Voon Tin Yow, IOIPG Chief Executive Officer; and YDH TPr Puan Hajah Noraini binti Haji Roslan, Datuk Bandar Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ).
Also present were Lee Yoke Har, IOIPG Executive Director; Teh Chin Guan, IOIPG Chief Operating Officer (Property Development – Central Region); Chris Chong, IOIPG Senior General Manager (Mall Operations); Dylan Chan, IOI Mall Puchong General Manager; and Kristine Ng, IOIPG General Manager, Group Corporate Communication & Sustainability.
In his opening speech, Dato’ Voon highlighted that IOIPG is guided by its vision of Trusted. and continuously prioritises the safeguarding of the environment and the building of sustainable communities.
He added that, “This KITACycle waste recycle collection centre is in line with our vision and our missions. Hence, we work with our business partners to encourage recycling within the mall and we continuously educate our community on waste segregation, further directing waste from landfill and preventing pollution of our oceans.”
Echoing Dato’ Voon’s sentiment, Dylan Chan said, “KITACycle aims to encourage recycling amongst the 250 over tenants in IOI Mall Puchong as well as reaching out to the Puchong community to create awareness on the benefits of recycling and how it is able to reduce our carbon footprint.”
With KITACycle located within IOI Mall Puchong, the local community can drop-off their recyclables and shop at the same location. For those who wish for this convenient drive-through and drop-off experience, KITACycle is strategically located on the ground floor near Carnival Court in IOI Mall Puchong, with easy access from the open car park via the West Entrance.
Its weigh-and-pay system offers cash for recyclables, and it is hoped that this would encourage waste segregation and recycling practices amongst the Puchong community, thus diverting waste from landfills. In the long-term, KITACycle aims to encourage sustainable lifestyles, whereby waste segregation and recycling becomes second nature.
In IOI Properties Group, we believe that collective effort in collaboration with business partners, tenants and the local authorities, together with active participation from the community in diverting waste from landfills would create a significant impact in the mitigation of climate change. Hence, we will endeavour to work closely with the local authorities and activate on ground and social media activities in enhancing its engagement with the local community in order to continuously raise awareness and to inculcate the culture of recycling. We strongly believe that if all of us make sustainable lifestyle choices, we will be able to contribute to ensuring a sustainable environment for future generations.
