IOIPG Sustain Roadmap 2030

THE LAUNCH OF IOIPG SUSTAIN ROADMAP 2030 (ISR 2030)

IOI Properties Group (IOIPG) unveiled the IOI Sustain Roadmap 2030 (ISR 2030) on 14 November 2024, a strategic framework to advance sustainability across our operations and value chain. Officiated by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, former Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, the roadmap sets out 12 strategic pillars focusing on strategic initiatives to address climate change, biodiversity, waste management, sustainable finance, supply chain management, employee wellbeing as well as sustainability risks and opportunities.

The launch of the roadmap coincided with the official energising of IOI City Mall’s solar photovoltaic (PV) installation, recognised as the largest mall rooftop PV system in Malaysia. To further advance the Group’s decarbonisation agenda, an additional 4.0 MWp PV system was installed on the rooftop of IOI City Mall (Phase 2). With this expansion, total solar generation reached 9,902 MWh in FY2025.

This newly energised 4.0 MWp system supplements the mall’s existing 3.56 MWp installation, bringing the overall installed capacity to 7.56 MWp and enabling the mall to avoid 7,582 tCO₂ emissions in FY2025.

Greening the Value Chain

As part of our ongoing efforts to green our value chain, the Group engages with suppliers to advance sustainability practices across operations through continuous collaboration between the Corporate Sustainability team and the Contracts and Procurement Department.

These engagements focus on Scope 3 emission management, shared ESG aspirations, and the introduction of suppliers to IOIPG’s Sustainability Roadmap for align purposes. Through these efforts, the Group aims to strengthen supplier awareness, encourage responsible business practices, and foster alignment with its long-term sustainability objectives.

To date, IOIPG has conducted supplier engagement sessions across various operational sectors in collaboration with strategic partners including the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB), Alliance Bank, and the Green Building Index (GBI).

Food Waste Management

Le Méridien Putrajaya officially launched its Food Waste Management Initiative on 24 July 2025, marking another milestone in our sustainability journey. The event was attended by Mr. Mark Steele (General Manager, Le Méridien Putrajaya), Ms. Kristine Ng (Head, Group Corporate Sustainability, IOI Properties Group), Chef Liou (Head Chef, Le Méridien Putrajaya), and Mr. Harbir Gill (Founder, Ground Control), highlighting strong collaboration across hotel operations, culinary leadership, and sustainability.

At the heart of the initiative is the BiobiN®, a self-contained organic waste management solutions. Unlike typical composting systems, these solution is onsite composting, ensuring food waste is managed efficiently and hygienically. This reduces food waste sent to landfills and demonstrates how collaboration and innovation can drive real impact.

It reflects IOIPG’s sustainability roadmap and Le Meridian Putrajaya efforts in diverting it from landfill, taking meaningful steps towards greener hotel operations and contributing to Malaysia’s circular economy goals.
